About 6 Degrees

6 degrees facilitates opportunities for both start-up and established businesses through the development of the local innovation ecosystem. We coordinate co-working spaces, programs, and events that stimulate the digital economy and nurture local entrepreneurship through the exploration of innovative ideas.

In the past year, 6 Degrees has introduced an incubator program – to assist, nurture and formulate innovative business ideas – and an accelerator program – whose focus is on scaling the business and preparing for investment. We are able to provide local entrepreneurs with the same business opportunities that are generally available only in metropolitan areas.
Additionally, 6 degrees has begun expansion to support new and existing businesses in the wider region, including Woolgoolga, Kempsey, Nambucca, and Bellingen through the Jobs for NSW Local Innovation Network Program.

The types of regular events we host include:

A pitch is when one of our members gets up and give us a 5 mins rundown on:
– where they are up to with it at the moment
– their passion and their venture
– what they need to get it moving into the future
There is a panel and members of the audience who will provide some guiding words of wisdom and thought-provoking questions to each of you to move forward with your venture. (10 mins each for Q&A). You never know who is listening and how they might help your business in the future.

A series of workshops facilitated by knowledge experts focusing on aspects of lean startups, user experience and getting from idea to launch. Some of our past workshops have been run by Alan Jones of Blue Chilli, Aaron Birkby of River City Labs and Henry Cho, Lean UX Expert.
Salons are our more social evening learning opportunities. Inspired by the French 18th Century tradition “A salon is a gathering of people under the roof of an inspiring host, held partly to amuse one another and partly to refine the taste and increase the knowledge of the participants through conversation.” Ours are traditionally held at local cafes or hotels and involve fireside Q&A chats with our local and national talent.
